Axelrod: 'This is essentially a tea party downgrade'
Like it or not, the polls show that Americans did not like the Republican approach to the debt limit negotiations, don’t like John Boehner, and are not behind the Tea Party movement (a whopping 18% support the Tea Party). Blaming the Tea Party for the S&P rating downgrade is accurate, is good politics, and it will stick. Republicans may have won a battle over the debt limit, but they lost the 2012 election because of the way they did it.
And that is a steaming pile of crap.
Just because the Tea Party can do math, don’t hold it against them.

With the facts clearly against them, the left falls back on their old standard tactic of demonizing their foes.
